Elaine, You have a strong piece here. I think it’s interesting that your two patterns overlap. Some people (including me) chose to use the darker colors in one pattern and the lighter colors in another, but you chose to merge them together, with some dark and light coming through in both patterns. I think I can see more of the vibrating edges in the dark colors. However, I think if you make the patterns smaller the overall vibrating edges in the image might come across better. For some reason, to my eyes at least, the vibrating edge doesn’t work as well with thick areas of color, as you have here. But I think you could keep the same shapes, just try reducing it a bit and see if you find it has more vibration. While I do think your composition is interesting, it might be a little too central and symmetric. Sometimes a composition can be more dynamic if you change that. I think you should play around with that. You might not like it, but it’s worth a try, just to see what it looks like. In the end, you have a good piece and I look forward to seeing it completed!
This is very complex, in a good way. It has this nice textile feel to it. The way the you add four colors together is good. I feel as though with the dark orange motifs can be put around more evenly, especially on the right hand side. Though I don't see any vibrating edges as much as would like. Maybe the one blue is too stronger than the other, so with the orange. Another is that if made the motifs smaller and/or bigger and smaller , the vibrating effects would be really show. But you never disappoint, so good job ^_^
